Obituary of Fern V. Harrington

Fern V. Harrington, 84, of Tannery Creek Road, Corning (Lindley), passed away on Wednesday evening, November 7, 2012 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA quite suddenly. Fern was born in Addison, NY to Cecil and Hazel (Pickett) Ward on Sept. 16, 1928. She was a graduate of Addison Central School in 1946. She worked for Ingersoll Rand Co. and retired from Dresser Rand in 1994 after 45 years of active service. She married Leon M. Harrington Sept. 10, 1949 in Painted Post. When he passed away Sept. 11, 2010, they had enjoyed 61 years together. She enjoyed traveling with her family and for many years they traveled by trailer to Myrtle Beach, SC and Florida and Stauton, VA to see their favorite entertainers, "The Statler Brothers". Later traveling was done by bus tours. On their 50th Anniversary, a bus tour to Cape Cod & New England was taken with their son William. She was a member of the Presho United Methodist Church, Lindley-Presho Senior Citizens and Woodhull Community Friends Senior Citizens. Fern was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Rexford G. Ward and Paul M. Ward, step mother, Margaret Mudry and her husband, Leon Harrington. She is survived by her son, William at home, sister, Lorraine Smith of Florida, sisters in law, Barbara Morseman and husband Richard Morseman of Addison, Fanny Koon and husband Elwyn Koon of Florida, Peggy Miller of Lawrenceville, Pa., Letitia Ward of Mansfield, Pa and Arlene Whiting of Virginia, special nephew, Patrick Ward of Addison along with other nieces and nephews. Fern requested no public service. Burial will be in Presho Cemetery next to her husband. Memorials may be made to the Presho Methodist Church or charity of one's choice.
