Obituary of Robert J. Carl Sr.

Robert Carl Sr., 88, of Troupsburg, NY passed away peacefully at home with loved ones on Tuesday morning, January 18, 2022. Bob was born September 20, 1933 in Troupsburg, NY. He was the son of Burr and Mary (Hurd) Carl. Bob graduated from Troupsburg in 1952 and on February 21, 1957 he married Edith E Jackson of Risingville, NY. Bob was a Dairy farmer on the family farm all his life, a loving husband, and father. Later on he became a member of the Town of Troupsburg Town Board, and then was voted in as the Town of Troupsburg Highway Superintendent a position held for 15 years. Bob was an active member in the Allegany Steuben Holstein Association, a founding and Lifetime member of the Troupsburg Fire Department, NYS Highway Superintendents Association, and he was a volunteer with Foodlink and anyplace else that needed him. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years Edith, and his two brothers; Donald Carl and Kenneth Carl. Bob is survived by his sons; Robert Carl Jr. (Agatha Tucker), Larry (Shelly) Carl, Daniel (Sharlene) Carl, Randall (Lori) Carl, Benjamin (Renee) Carl and Kenny Guiles, all of Troupsburg, NY, and his loving daughters; Wanda (Robert Jr.) Goodwin of Brookneal, VA and Karen (Donald) Jones of Kent, NY, by grandchildren, Rebecca (Brian) Stratton, Christina (Daron) Allington, Kenneth Carl, Chelsea Carl, Erica Carl, Alex Carl, Joseph Carl, Jessalyn Carl, Eric (Renae) Lowrey, Donald “Tony” (Andrea) Lowrey, Jennifer (Heath) Stout, Kelli (Tim) Empson, Kathryn Carl, Mary Jones, Lucas Jones and Tom Buterbaugh, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. As it was Bob’s wishes, there will be no service or calling hours. Burial will be private with just the family at Young Hickory Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Bob’s name to the Young Hickory Cemetery in care of Loree Symonds, 1992 Cty. Rte. 117, Troupsburg, NY 14885. Arrangements are being handled by H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Woodhull, NY.
