Robert L. Gardner Sr., 66, of Cameron, NY, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. Born in Tioga, PA on March 24, 1955, Bob was the son of the late Cecil Youngs and Anna Gardner. He had been employed by the Dresser Rand Co. in Painted Post as a forklift operator. He also worked on various farms in the area, most recently the Lyle Taft farm in Woodhull. Bob was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping and cutting firewood. He was an able mechanic who enjoyed auto repair and maintenance. He liked to barbeque with his family and had a great love for his many dogs over the years. In 1988, Bob and the former Joyce VanTreese were married in Addison. Joyce survives. Also surviving besides Joyce are his son, Robert (Ashley) Gardner Jr. of Andover, his step children, Raymond Riffle of Cameron and Sheila Swarthout of Corning, his grandchildren, Natalie Gardner, Allison Gardner, Raven Gardner and Aiden Seagul, his siblings, Theodore, Leland, Emoline, Linda, Greta and Mazzie Youngs and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was preceded in death by his sister Wilma Schoonover and his brother, Burdett Youngs. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, January 25 from 11 am to 1 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will follow there at 1 pm with Rev. Scott Towner officiating.
