Obituary of Kathleen S. Weller

HORNELL/GREENWOOD: Kathleen S. “Kathy” Weller, 70, of Crosby St. in Hornell passed away Tuesday evening January 24, 2022 at St. James Hospital following a short illness. Kathy was born January 3, 1952 in Norwich, NY to the late Norman and Ruth (Jones) Saunders. On August 18, 1973 in Gilbertsville, NY she married Grover L. Weller who predeceased her in July of 1995. She was a graduate of Gilbertsville Central School and furthered her education at SUNY Cobleskill where she received and associates degree. In the summer of 1986, she, her husband and two sons moved to Greenwood where Mr. Weller took an administrative position as superintendent of Greenwood Central School. After her husband’s passing, she moved to Orchard Park where she was a teacher’s aide in the Orchard Park Middle School district. Kathy was a great lover of animals, enjoyed reading, baking, playing cards with family and friends but cherished her time spent with her family the most. She is survived by her two sons, Michael (Tammy) Weller of Tonawanda, Thomas (Sara) Weller of Alfred and her wonderful granddaughter Cianna Weller. She is also survived by two brothers, Ken (Sybil) Saunders, of Jacksonville, AL., Steve (Sela) Saunders of Tolland, Conn., sister-in-law Sharon (Robert) Gray of Stafford, NY, nephew Chad Valyear, niece Allyson Valyear and their families. The family will receive friends from 4-5 pm Saturday, January 29th at the First Presbyterian Church in Canisteo where a memorial service will take place immediately following calling hours at 5:00 pm.
