Obituary of Barbara L. Morseman

Barbara L. Morseman, 82, of Rumsey St., Bath, NY, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath after being stricken at home. Born in Dryden, NY on January 15, 1940, Barb was the daughter of the late Sherman B. and Gertrude M. (Cady) Herrington. Her family lived in Troupsburg where she attended Troupsburg Central School and was a 1957 graduate there. Barb began a long career with Corning Glass Works when she was hired there at the age of 17 immediately out of school. She worked as an administrative assistant and retired from Corning Inc. with 38 years of active employment. In her career, Barb received many honors and awards in recognition of her outstanding work there. She took great pride in her skills and dedication. Barb married Raymond L. Morseman and they made their home together in Bath, residing in the same home on Rumsey Street for many years. Barb was a longtime member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Bath. An avid seamstress, she was very involved with the church craft shows, donating items she had made to the church to be sold. She also contributed to similar events held by the Ira Davenport Hospital Auxiliary. Barb is survived by Raymond Morseman, her husband of 40 years, her daughter and son in law, Patsy and Henry Simmons of Watkins Glen, her son, Jonathon Fassett, her grandchildren, Jayme Simmons (Harley Brown) of Alpine and Eli Fassett of Dundee, great grandchildren, Brennian Elliott, Oliver Simmons and Alyiah Thorton, her sister, Ina (Bud) Cramer of Elmira and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter, Holly Claire, her sisters, Beatrice (Elwyn) Ingersoll, Beverly (Rudy) Hauptman and Sharon Eddy and her brother, Donald Herrington. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Addison Hill Cemetery in Tuscarora. Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull.
