Obituary of Barbara M. Eldridge

WEST CAMERON: Barbara M. Eldridge, 90, formerly of Cty. Rte. 119 passed away Monday (Dec. 3, 2012) at the Steuben County Healthcare Facility in Bath where she had resided since 2007. Barbara was born August 4, 1922 in Corning to Ralph and Ethel (Stoddard) Drehmer. On November 30, 1940 in Elkland, Pa. she married Floyd W. Eldridge who predeceased her in August of 1998. She was also predeceased by a son Perry Eldridge in 1970. Barbara was a lifelong resident of the Canisteo Valley where she dedicated her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was an avid and devoted Christian lady who loved to read her Bible and learn its Scriptures. She was also a member of the Adrian Baptist Church. Survivors include her six sons: Stanley (Sharon) Eldridge of Lake City, FL., James (Patricia) Eldridge of Adrian, Francis (Karen) Eldridge of Campbell, Ralph Eldridge of Hornell, Floyd (Sue) Eldridge of Alfred Station and Keith Eldridge of Alfred, five daughters: Jan (Dorr) Crane of Almond, Carol (Kenneth) Allen of West Union, S.C., Ethel Brown (Carter Snyder, Sr.) of Hammondsport, Eva Cotton (Leon Babcock) of Canisteo and Bonnie Padgett (Robert Menz) of Hornell. Barbara is also survived by a sister: Ethel Vanderhoef of Savona and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. At Barbara's request there will be no calling hrs. a celebration of her life will take place Thursday at 1:00 PM at the Adrian Baptist Church, Cty. Rte. 119 in the town of Canisteo, with Pastors Frankie Garcia & Greg Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery, Bath, N.Y.
