Ward R. Lurcock, 75, of County Route 21, Jasper, NY, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira.
Born in Montour Falls, NY on August 17, 1946, Ward was the son of the late Burt and Margaret (Crapo) Lurcock. He left school prior to graduating and became a crane operator at an area metal reclamation business. His love for cars led him to a career as an auto mechanic, having been a very skilled longtime mechanic for Perry & Thompson Ford in Bath. He loved to hunt and fish but his true love was turning wrenches.
On April 4, 1982, Ward and Charlene E. Stewart were married in Avoca.
Surviving is his wife, Charlene Lurcock of Jasper, his children, Ross “Barney” Lurcock of Ovid, Kevin Lurcock of Penn Yan, Brian Lurcock of Penn Yan, Ward (Linda) Lurcock Jr. of Savona, Joleen (Chris) Loos of Binghamton, Anthony (Codie) Lurcock of Hornell and Joseph (Danielle) Lurcock of Jasper, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, his siblings, Michael Lurcock of Johnson City, Cathy Simons of Cleveland, TN, Iona (Bernard) House of Pennsylvania, Diana (Willis) House of Prattsburgh and Jeannie Dombroski of Dundee and many nieces and nephews.
Ward was preceded in death by siblings, Bert Jr., Mark, Anthony, Patricia, Joyce, Gail and Joann.
There will be no visitation or services.
Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull, NY.
