Harry L. Rogers Jr., 68, of Bath, NY, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022 at the home of his sister in Beaver Dams, NY.
Born in Corning, NY on December 22, 1953, Harry was the only son of the late Harry L. and Beverly J. (Barlow) Rogers. Harry spent most of his childhood in Lindley. As a teenager, Harry’s family moved to Woodhull from where he attended Addison Central School and was a 1972 graduate there.
Following high school, Harry made his home in Bath and spent his entire adult years there. He always worked in the grocery business, having worked for Harris Food Line and other area grocery stores. He retired from TOPS Market in Bath where he was a grocery manager. An avid sports fan, Harry particularly enjoyed baseball and football. As a child, he envisioned himself as a professional baseball player. He grew fond of spending time at regional casinos and eventually kindled a common interest in his sisters.
Harry never married but is survived by his four loving sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and Larry Swan of Lindley. Debra and Everett Harrington of Scio, Brenda and James Keeney of Beaver Dams and Candace and John Strauss of Addison. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Harry was very fond of cats and leaves behind his loving companions Itty Bitty and NN.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly and Harry Rogers, his nephew, Leon Briggs and his great nephew, Mark Swan.
Friends may call of Tuesday, August 2 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be held there on Wednesday at 10 am with Harry’s brother-in-law, Everett Harrington officiating.
Burial will follow in Woodhull Cemetery next to Harry’s parents.
