Obituary of Genevieve H. Thornfeldt

Genevieve H. "Jane" Thornfeldt, 99, of 43 William St. Addison, entered into rest on Thursday morning, December 20, 2012 at Absolut Care @ Three Rivers in Painted Post. Jane was born in Derby, CT on July 27, 1913, the daughter of Aba J. and Adelaide G. Banker Hopkins. She was a graduate of Ansonia, CT High School and attended the Griffith Hospital School of Nursing in Derby where she earned certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse. On Apr. 7, 1934 she married Hilding G. Thornfeldt. He preceded her in death on Apr. 19, 1975. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Lorraine Marie Clark in 2010 and her grandson, John Wrabel. Jane worked many years as a private duty nurse, caring for patients in their homes. Upon moving to New York to be with her daughter Peggy, Jane became a member of the Hedgesville Presbyterian Church and also attended church at the Alfred and Addison Methodist Churches where Peggy and her husband Dan pastored. She truly enjoyed her life at Addison Place Apartments in Addison where she loved all there and was greatly loved by all in return. She was a very avid Bingo player and enjoyed working with ceramics and was a very talented seamstress and quilter. Surviving are her daughters and sons in law, Carole Olivia and James Russell of Cherry Valley, NY and Peggy and Daniel Knopf of Addison, 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Friends may call on Saturday, December 22 from 3 to 5 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will follow there at 5 PM with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating.
