Obituary of Lillian M. Knight

HORNELL: Lillian M. Knight, 87, of Green Acres Trailer Court passed away Friday (Dec. 21, 2012) at Hornell Gardens following a brief illness. Lillian was born August 4, 1925 in St. Johns, New Foundland, to Arthur and Cecilia (Hanrahan) Mootrey. On October 23, 1970 in New Foundland, she married Ernest J. Knight who predeceased her in July of 2004. She was also predeceased by her first husband James Cheesman in 1968, two sisters, Teresa Young in 2004 and Madelina Young in 2007 and a brother William Mootrey in 2012. She was a devoted wife, mother, grand-mother and friend who enjoyed the company of her family and friends both locally and in Canada. She was a member of the Canadian Legion Women's Auxillary. Lillian is survived by a daughter: Cathy (Raymond) Parker of Brampton, Ontario Canada, grandson Brian Parker of Toronto, granddaughter Sonia Parker of Brampton, three great-grandchildren Michael and Scarlett Parker and Marcel Parker-Feeney, nieces and nephews to include: Mr. Bernard Cheesman of Toronto, RoseMary Young and Frederick Young of New Foundland, Jamie (Daniel) Maloney of Ontario and Joseph (Betty) Cheesman of New Foundland. She is also survived by a brother-in-law Rodney Knight of Canisteo, John (Marjorie) Knight of Bath, Gary (Roberta) Knight of Avoca, as well as sisters -in-law Mabel McCormick of Andover, Carol Ritter of Hornell, Marjorie (Lyle) Henry and Pearl Knight all of Canisteo and Linda (Richard) Bacon of Altoona, Pa. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM Thursday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo where funeral and committal service will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 3 PM. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery, Bath, N.Y. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Hornell Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 533, Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Service: Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 3:00 PM H.P.
