Jack L. Thomas, 97, of Wildwood, FL, went home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. Jack was born on August 2, 1925 in Hornell, NY. He left high school to join the navy and serve his country during WWII. Four years later he returned home and graduated from Hornell High School. He served in the Navy for two more years during the Korean War. Jack worked for the Hornell Evening Tribune for 25 years retiring as the Foreman of the Composing Room before beginning a new career at the NY State Dept. of Transportation. Jack loved spending time with family, golf, camping, building model ships, and his retirement years in Florida. He was an intelligent, quiet man who loved music and especially listening to his niece sing favorite hymns. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Coral Thomas; parents, Theo and Helen Thomas; brothers, Ted and Dick Thomas; and son, Jay Thomas. Surviving family members include his daughter, Susan Lynch (John); son, Tracy Thomas (Bridgit); grandchildren, Michael Lynch (Ashley), Katie Kistler (Alex) and Emily Lynch; great-grandchildren, Fionn Lynch, Jack and Bennett Kistler; his former wife and mother of his children, Christine Thomas; special nieces: Peg Claremont(Jim) and Jennifer Nellums (Burrell); and Mary Jo Wengender. A special thank-you is extended to his previous caregivers, Colleen Sherman and Danny Holst. Jack will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo, NY, October 8th, 2022 at 11am. A private memorial service took place September 3, 2022 at 10am at First Christian Church Disciples at Wildwood Florida.
