Linda J. Schoonover, 67, of 553 Reynolds Road, Woodhull, NY (Town of Troupsburg), entered into rest on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at home following a brief illness. Linda was born in Elmira, NY on November 9, 1945, the daughter of the late Charles and Harriett Decker Butters. She was a life long resident of Troupsburg and was a graduate of Troupsburg Central School. She retired in November from St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell after 30 years of employment there. Linda began her career there as a nurse's aide, became trained and worked several years as a phlebotomist and later became a receptionist at the hospital lab and administration office. She was an avid reader, loved to camp but most of all cherished time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Linda is survived by her daughter and son in law, Tammy and Shane Wheaton of Woodhull, her grandchildren, Kim (Josh) Snyder of Woodhull, Kelly Wheaton (Mike Orr) of Westfield, PA and Kaylie Wheaton of Woodhull, great grandchildren, Olivia, Breanna and Haleigh, sisters, Patricia Kizer of Painted Post and Joan (Bill) Tomasetti of Leesburg, FL, brother in law, Gary Carlsen of Dale, NY and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Carlsen and her aunt, Sarah Randall. Friends may call on Sunday, December 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be conducted there on Monday at 11 AM with Rev. Adrian Essigmann officiating. Burial will be in the family plot on Reynolds Road, Troupsburg.
