Obituary of Peggy A. Dunn

Peggy A. Dunn, 86, of Port Gibson, NY, formerly of Prattsburgh, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic in Clifton Springs. Peggy was born in Moriah, NY on January 16, 1936 to her biological parents, George and Alta (Compton) Drake. She was given up to foster care and raised by Mary and Walter Nye in Mineville, NY. Peggy met a young man in Lake George by the name of Angevine M. Dunn. She went on to marry him on July 3, 1955 in Keene, NY. Angevine enlisted in the US Navy and made a career of military service. Peggy traveled with him throughout the world while building a family together. She tended to matters at home during Angevine’s many deployments. She was a wonderful wife and mother and was the glue that held them all together. After Angevine retired from the Navy, Peggy worked for several years in the laundry at Penfield Nursing Home. They had made their home in Prattsburgh for many years before moving to Ontario County to be nearer their children. Peggy is survived by her husband of 67 years, Angevine Dunn of Port Gibson, Dale and Carol Dunn of Walworth, NY, Cheryl Crofoot of Kansas and Sharon and Mike Manna of Canandaigua, grandchildren, Cheyenne Shasky, Shawn Dunn, William Vibbert, David (Jeannine) Vibbert, Gregory Vibbert, Rebecca (Coty) Calviera and Kerri Bailey, great grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Tyler) Gross, Christian Shasky, Renee Shasky, Aaron Shasky, Laura Jean (Dustin) Mozena, Selena Currier, Chelsie VanFleet, David Vibbert Jr, Courtney Vibbert, Skylar Vibbert, Tamera Vibbert, Juleon Vibbert, Connor Davenport, Makayla Davenport and Nova Calviera, Angevine’s siblings, Patrick Dunn, Michael Dunn, Roger Dunn, Evelyn Davis, Norma Wagoner and Peggy Dunn along with many nieces and nephews. Peggy was predeceased by her infant son, William Dunn, Brothers, George Drake and Fred Drake, son-in-law, Robert Crofoot and grandson -in-law, Ronald Shasky. A memorial service will be held at on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 1 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Peggy will be laid to rest in Elk Creek Cemetery, Borden, NY.
