John A. McCarrick, "Bubba", 44, of 81 Steuben St., Addison, entered into rest on Saturday morning, Nov. 5, 2011, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. Born on Aug. 1, 1967 in Corning, John was the son of Gordon C. and Judy A. Crane McCarrick. He was a 1986 graduate of Addison Central School. Following graduation, John worked for AIM, then became a school bus driver for the Addison School District, a job he truly loved and worked at for several years. John also was employed as a truck driver for Star Trucking and as a dispatcher at Crane's Towing in Painted Post. He enjoyed working with his long time school buddy, Brian Crane until he became ill with diabetes. An avid sports fan, John was a dedicated Buffalo Bills fan, and rooted for the Buffalo Sabres in hockey and the Atlanta Braves in baseball. John fought a courageous battle with diabetes. Through all of his hospitalizations and surgeries, he never lost hope or his gentle disposition. Even with all his difficulties, he had the ability to reassure others, make people laugh and smile and maintain his live long friends. John is survived by his parents, Judy and Gordon McCarrick of Addison, his sister, Julie McCarrick (Karen Lyke) of Bath, his brother. Jeffery (Dia) McCarrick of Morganton, NC, his maternal grandparents, John and Norma Crane of Addison, his nieces and nephews, Chance, Alexis and Jocelyn, his aunts and uncles, Maxine Randolph, Marlene & Arnold Champlain, Deborah & Roy Bacon, Paula Spencer, Sheila Dunning (Jack Thompson), Dwight & Linda McCarrick, Dale & Helen McCarrick, Ronnie & Wanda Bacon, Philip & Joannie Bacon, Charles & Melissa Woughter and Jim & Michelle Spotts, along with his special friend, Dale Jackson , other dear friends, Jim Mitchell, Brian Crane and Tommy Hargrave and several cousins. John was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George & Dorothy McCarrick, paternal great grandparents, Harry & Carrie Crane and maternal great grandparents, Albertine & Ivan Rushmore. Friends may call on Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull. Funeral services will be conducted there on Wednesday, Nov. 9. at 2:00 PM with Rev. Timothy Mapes officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Caton, NY Memorial may be made in John's name to the Addison Fire Department, the Addison Ambulance Corp. or the Dialysis Unit at Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
