HORNELL: Patti Jo Ordway, 66, of Cty. Rte. 64 Ashbaugh Hill, passed away Tuesday evening, February 21, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo. Patti was born October 30, 1956 in Hornell, to the late Ben and Doris (Wilson) Ray. On November 22, 1980 at the home of Ron and Lora Ordway in Hornell, she married Michael S. Ordway who survives and resides in Hornell. Patti was a life-long resident of Canisteo and was a member of the graduating class of 1974 at Canisteo Central School. She was a social science program coordinator specializing in substance abuse at the Bath V.A. Hospital. After retiring from the V.A., she worked at the Canisteo-Greenwood elementary school library. Patti enjoyed her trips to Myrtle Beach, reading cook books and recipes, laying in the sun and occasionally going fishing. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her husband Mike, she is survived by two sons, Jacob and Kyle Ordway both of Canisteo, a grandson Byron Scott Ordway of Hornell, a sister Betty Lou (Robert) Charles of Hartsville and a brother Walter (Carolyn) Ray of Canisteo and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, three sisters, JoAnn Wulforst, twin sister Peggy Ann Stewart and Terri Brown, three brothers, Dick, Robert and Benjamin Ray. There will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be planned and announced at a later date. Memorial contributions in Patti’s name may be made to American Diabetes Association or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
