HORNELL: Ronald L. Ordway, 87, of Dennis Ave. Ext. passed away peacefully Friday morning, March 3, 2023, at his home following an extended illness.
Ron was born October 19, 1935 in Hornell to the late Edward and Helen (Leyman) Ordway. He married the former Lora H. Goff who survives and resides in Hornell.
Ron was a lifelong resident of Hornell and retired as a corrections officer from the Groveland Correctional Facility in Sonyea. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish with family and friends. He also enjoyed his hunting camp where he kept things in shape and improved on his food plots for each upcoming season.
Ron cherished and adored his entire family from his first child to his youngest great-grandchild and everyone in between.
In addition to his wife Lora, Ron is survived by two sons, Michael Ordway of Hornell and Timothy (Judy) Ordway also of Hornell, one daughter Jodi (Chuck) Arthur of Milford, DE. 6 grandchildren, Jacob and Kyle Ordway, Edward (Michele) Ordway, Jen (Kevin) Pegg, Lori (Derek) Jones and Sarah (Jack) Simon. 10 great grandchildren, Byron Ordway, Haleigh, Piper, and Bo Simon, Bliss and Ella Jones, Hunter and Ethan Pegg, Cash and Brooks Ordway. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Jane Ordway of Indiana and several nieces and nephews.
Ron was predeceased by a brother Thomas Ordway, twin sister Bonnie Wulforst and daughter-in-law Patti Jo Ordway.
There will be no public visitation or services, a private family gathering and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery in Hornell.
Memorial contributions in Ron’s name may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
