HORNELL: Jack T. McCaffrey, Sr., 69, of McIntosh Rd. passed away Thursday evening, March 9, 2023 at St. James Hospital following an extended illness. Jack was born November 30, 1953 in Hornell to the late Francis J. and Loretta I. (Ford) McCaffrey. He had worked at the Gunlocke furniture manufacturing company in Wayland for several years. Jack enjoyed hunting, cheering on the Buffalo Bills and watching NASCAR racing. Jack is survived by his loving companion Patricia Burnside of Hornell, two sons, Jack T. McCaffrey. Jr., of Orlando, FL. and Derrick McCaffrey of Hornell, two daughters Lucretia Miura and Melissa McCaffrey both of NC, his extended family, Tammy (Ben) Edwards of Canisteo and their son Gideon, Mindy (Josh) Ostrander of Jamestown and their children, Tyler and Travis. Three brothers, Steve McCaffrey of Livonia, Patsy (Linda) McCaffrey of Avon, Larry (Shirley) McCaffrey of Rexville, two sisters Glenna (Larry) Tuttle of Livonia and Ava McCaffrey of Avon. He is also survived by a brother-in-law Allen Lathrop of Springwater. Jack was predeceased by a brother Donald McCaffrey and a sister Darlene Lathrop. Per Jack’s request there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Almond at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Jack’s name may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.
