Joyce, I am so sorry to have missed your memorial service, today, due to work! I remember going to many Payne Family Reunions @ Boyds Corners Park! I remember you & Gerald running the store, in Jasper. You both were always so loving, friendly and kind! I felt truly blessed to have known you both, such a tremendous walk in Christian faith & music ministry!

Q: What will you never forget about Joyce?
A: I will never forget how "peaceful" aunt Joyce was. Yes, Joyce and her brothers were always quiet by their nature. But like grandma Sadie, Joyce was always there bringing a calm to a busy gathering or gentle words to me as a young boy. I loved Joyce and will miss her. She is one of those people that you just want to be "near".

David, Judy, Carol and Bruce have been blessed to have such a Godly mother. She was friend to everyone, neither spoke a harsh word to nor about anyone. Joyce is a treasured memory for all who knew her. She is in Glory now, with no more pain, nor worry nor fear. May she rest in peace

Joyce was a wonderful lady. Payne’s store and their presence in the community was a strong one showing kindness. I remember Joyce being patient with me as I paid for candy. I remember how sweet she was and I felt comfortable. I took my daughters to a local neighborhood store so they could learn the way I had from a patient lady. I have a wonderful memory of the store and couple who owned it.

I remember Joyce being our 4-H leader. She always showed so much patience and made our meetings fun. I was so pleased to have a conversation with her and Jerry at my Dad’s funeral in 2016.

From my youngest days in Jasper, N.Y.; Joyce and Gerald's presence in church and at their grocery store I recall with fondness. Joyce always had a smile and she kept a little area of the store to sell 45s and music albums. I still own some of those records. Joyce and Gerald's witness and faithful walk with Christ was a great encouragement to me.
