Dorothy F. Bouton, 92, of Addison, formerly of Zephyrhills, FL and Hedgesville, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Corning Hospital. Dorothy was born in the Town of Woodhull on February 10, 1931, the daughter of the late Oscar and Floris Hargrave Allen. She attended Addison Schools. On October 1, 1947, she married Edward J. Bouton. Ed preceded her in death on June 15, 2010. Dorothy was a homemaker and stay at home Mom but also had worked with her sister Arloween in an upholstery business. She was a talented baker, often baking for special events and was well known for her delicious sticky buns. She was very artistic and crafty. In recent years she developed a keen interest and talent in painting. Upon retirement, Dorothy and Ed moved to Florida where they made their home together until Ed’s passing in 2010. Shortly after that time, Dorothy returned to New York to be nearer her family. She had been a longtime member of the Hedgesville Presbyterian Church and attended the Addison Baptist Church while living in Addison. Dorothy had been a member of the North Jasper Mother’s Club years past and until recently had attended the Addison Senior Citizen’s gatherings. She was able to remain very active and independent until the time of her passing. Surviving are her children, Nancy and Walter Larrabee of Ben Lomons, CA, Sharon and Howard Zeh of Woodhull, George Bouton and Cheri Bartlett of Hedgesville, Jacquelyn Berryhill of Watertown TN and Jane Dennis of Cameron, 13 grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren, her siblings, Charles Allen of Texas, Donald (Betty) Allen of Victor, Greta Ingersoll of Wyoming, Arlene Marlatt of Jasper, Arloween Dennis of Hedgesville, Jack Allen of Florida, Philip Allen of Hedgesville, Kenneth (Carol) Allen of Bath, Elma Jean Jacobus of Henderson, NY and Vicki (James) Krisher of Rexville along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Ed, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her step mother, Isabell Bouton, her son, Edward I. Bouton on Oct. 18, 2003, her grandson, Eric Bouton, her son-in-law, Randy Dennis, her sister Floris “Toot” Moyer and her brothers, William Allen and Joseph Allen. Friends may call on Thursday, May 25 from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Her funeral services will be held there on Friday at 11 am with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will follow in Hedgesville Cemetery.
