Obituary of Rickey B. Doan

Rickey B. Doan, 67, of Troupsburg, NY passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He accepted Jesus Christ into his life and he confidentially went home to his Lord and Savior.
Born on May 26, 1956 in Wellsboro, PA, Rickey was the son of James Doan Jr. and Jean Sawyer Doan. He was raised in Osceola and was a 1974 graduate of Elkland High School. In his youth, Rickey was a member of the Osceola BSA troop. As a teenager and young adult, he played bass in area rock bands including the band the Swinging Pendulum.
He was a great dancer and had always loved to be around his many friends and family members. He was a member at the Knoxville Fire Hall. Rickey had a lifelong passion for cars, particularly muscle cars from his time growing up.
Rickey retired from Dresser Rand Co. in Painted Post where he was a fork lift operator. He had worked for a few years for Metamora Plastics in Elkland while on layoff from the Rand.
Surviving are his children. Michael (Jessica) Doan of Woodhull, Kayla Doan (Daron Aumick) of Mainesburg, PA and Donna VanOrsdale, his grandchildren, Lukas Doan, Parker Doan, Jacob Doan and Walker Doan, his step daughters, Kathy Riff and Christine Halme, his mother, Jean Doan of Osceola, his sister, Laurie Boyer of Knoxville, his brother, James (Missy) Doan of Osceola, his nieces and nephews, Curtis, Cara and Craig Boyer, Ashley (Zach) Fish and Brittany (Ryan) Rumsey, his aunts and uncles, Kay Kelts, Paula LeBarron, Larry Sawyer and Neil Sawyer and many cousins.
Rickey was preceded in death by his father Jim Doan on July 23, 2014.
Friends may call on Wednesday, July 12 from noon to 2 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be held there at 2 pm. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Austinburg, PA.
