Obituary of Fred M. Barber

Fred M. Barber, 65, of 4244 House Road, Jasper NY, passed away on September 22, 2023, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre PA. Fred was the son of the late Virginia (Elliot) Carson, and was raised by her and his step-father Vern Carson. In 1977 Fred graduated from the Jasper High School, and throughout his life grew a passion for the outdoors. Not only did he love to hunt and fish, but he enjoyed playing horse shoes and spending time with his son Trent shooting in 3D archery competitions. Fred was very crafty with wood and built many pieces for family and friends. He was also a past member of the Jasper Fire Department, and in a bowling league. Fred was the yard foreman at the Corning Building Company in Corning NY. Surviving Fred are his son, Trent (Rochelle) Barber of Owego, NY; Step-Son Dane (Holly) Cornell of Berkshire, NY; Step Daughter-in-Law Dina Cornell of Bluffton, SC; Sister-in-Law Marlies Barber of Corning, NY; Grandchildren: Bella, Jensen, Payton, Ainsley, Ella; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Fred was predeceased by his Step Son, Paul Cornell; Brothers: Bob, Ray; and Sister Sharon. A visitation for Fred will be held at the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Woodhull NY, at 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Thursday, September 28th, with a memorial service to follow at 5:00pm. Officiating is Reverend Brian Diffenbacher. Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Inc., Woodhull NY.
