Harry C. Mayo, 69, of 2505 Smith Road, Jasper, NY, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011 at St. James Mercy Hospital, Hornell, NY. Born in Hornell April 3, 1942, he was the son of Harry and Irene E. Welty Mayo. A graduate of Jasper Central School, he had worked as a furnace installer for Lou Fells Heating & Cooling in Painted Post and later was a carrier for the Corning Leader. He is survived by his wife, Sharon L. Barber Mayo at home, his children, Karen Coleman of Olean, NY, Teresa (James) Sexton and Jennifer Mayo of Hornell and H. Andrew (Kim) Mayo of Acton, Mass., his sister, Thelma Cook of Cadyville, NY, along with 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his son, Bryan Mayo. There will be no visitation or funeral. Private graveside committal prayers and burial will be in Jasper Cemetery, 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 9th. Memorials will be received for the Humane Society Animal Shelter, Industrial Park, Hornell, NY 14843. H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St., Woodhull, NY is assisting the family.
