Obituary of Verna M. Enderle

Verna M. Enderle, 93, of Addison, NY, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Steuben Center in Bath where she was a rehab patient following a recent fall. Verna was born in Addison on December 9, 1929, the daughter of Max and Madge Fenton Martin. She attended Addison Central School from where she was a 1947 graduate. Verna was employed for over 20 years by Corning Inc. where she worked as an inspector at various company locations. Prior to her time at Corning, she worked for Clarence Williams Woodworking Company in Addison for 6 years. Following her retirement from Corning, Verna resided in Arizona during the winter months and was employed at Yellowstone National Park during the summers. She eventually moved back to New York, living mainly in Addison. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, trips to casinos, walking and the Senior Olympics. Verna is survived by her son, Gerald Enderle of Addison, her daughters, Sharon Enderle of Savona, Barbara (John) Knapp of Addison and Judy Enderle of Painted Post, 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, her sister, Geraldine Button of Horseheads along with several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Verna was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Atwood on August 4, 2011 and her siblings, Harold Martin, Douglas Martin, Franklin Martin, Phyllis Baker, Doris Root, Ruth Pellicano and Dorothy Martin. A Celebration of Life and Memorial Gathering will be held at the Addison American Legion Post on Maple St. in Addison on Verna’s birthday, December 9, 2023 from 2 to 5 pm. Verna will be laid to rest in Elk Creek Cemetery, Borden, NY at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are in care of the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull, NY.
