Gary L. Koon, 79, of Lititz, PA passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023. He was born February 6, 1944 in Corning, NY, a son of Wilbur and Ruth (Cornwell) Koon.
Gary grew up in Cameron, NY. He married Joanne (Cotton) Koon on Valentine’s Day in 1965.
He and Joanne were active members of Boyd’s Corners Baptist Church when their children were young. He was a member of Calvary Church, Lancaster, PA, Manheim Sportsman Club and the Myerstown Tractor Club.
In the mid 1980’s he and Joanne graduated from Elohim Bible Institute in Castile, NY. They spent two years serving the Lord in Ireland. Returning to the US, they settled in Lititz, PA where they both served the Lord working at Brethren Village Retirement Community.
They became involved with Brethren Disaster Relief. They helped many people throughout the Southeast US rebuild their homes.
Gary enjoyed restoring tractors, tractor shows, camping, traveling to 49 states, and traveling to 10 countries. He could fix anything. He enjoyed wintering in sunny Florida for the last several years. He loved his family and enjoyed spending any moment he could with them. Most of all he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joanne Koon. He is also survived by his children: Lee Koon, Vonda Koon, and Jolene (Tadd) Piefer; his beloved grandchildren: Trevor Koon, Hudson Piefer, Rachel Piefer and Tyeler Piefer.
He is predeceased by his brother and sisters: Rodney Koon (2008), Frances Saxton (2021) and Virginia Zawrotny (2009).

Friends may call on Wednesday, October 18 from noon to 2 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be there at 2 pm with Rev. Greg Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Townline Cemetery, Cameron Mills, NY. Following the graveside ceremony, quests are invited to attend a time of fellowship and to share a meal at the Cameron Fire Station.
