Obituary of Deanna R. Price

Deanna R. Price, 79, of Jasper, heard “well done my good and faithful servant” on Sunday, December 31st 2023, as she received her final reward for her faith-filled life of sacrificial service. Deanna was born on December 21, 1944 in Hornell, the daughter to the late Raymond and Crystal Grant Thomas. She was raised in Woodhull and attended Woodhull High School. On April 15, 1961, she and Merritt Russell Price Jr. were married at the United Methodist Church of Woodhull. Russell preceded her in death on September 13, 2015. Deanna was the embodiment of Jesus as she lived her life focused on the betterment of others. Her crowning achievements were her 13 children and their families. She was their greatest cheerleader. Deanna was a dedicated member of Boyd’s Corners Baptist Church for 42-years and attended Open Door Baptist Church, where she loved to teach Sunday School and provide meals. Deanna supported and loved her husband of 54-years, Russell, as he farmed, coached sports, and sold real estate. She was his rock. Surviving are her children and spouses, Merritt and Julie Price of Salisbury, MD, Laurie and David Black of Charlotte, NC, Marita and Todd Saunders of Volens, VA, John and Julie Price of Gainsville, GA, Rhonda and Mike Pickard of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Amy and Tim Rossman of Lynchburg, VA, Bill and Karalea Price of Jamestown, NY, Bob and Joanna Price of Painted Post, NY, Trevor and Yane Price of Naples, NY, Sam and Mary Beth Price of Lynchburg, VA and Megan and Richard Harrell of Charlotte, NC, 44 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, her dear sister and confidant, Sandra Allen of Fort Worth, TX and nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Russell, Deanna was predeceased by her daughter Tammy Eldridge on Jan. 10, 2009, her son Thomas Price on March 15, 2020 and her sister Debbie Thomas. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 11 am at the Community Church of Jasper. Burial will follow in Jasper Cemetery.
