Obituary of Charles A. Sullivan

Charles A. Sullivan, 84, of Cameron, NY, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Loretto Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Syracuse. Charles was born at home in Tuscarora on February 26, 1939 to the late William and Edith Rice Sullivan. He attended rural schools in Tuscarora. As a young man, Charles was employed by Dininny Dairy in Addison and the Newland farm in Borden before purchasing his own farm in Tuscarora. He operated his dairy farm until a serious farming accident prevented him from continuing in the farming business. Following his injury he worked for Bryce Taft and Spiegel Refuse Service. Charles enjoyed deer hunting and coon hunting in earlier years. As he got older, he savored time with his family, particularly his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charles and Emmaline Youngs were married on June 26, 1981 in Freeman. Emmaline preceded him in death on Aug. 21, 2022. Surviving are his daughter, Myra (Ed) Smith of Addison, his sons, Charlie Sullivan and Dale Devore, both of Cameron, his grandchildren, Chad and Lisa Brion, Wade and Cindy Leach, Ryan and Lacy Leach, Chelsea and Earl Swackhamer, Skylar and Jon Bixby and Taylor Sullivan, his great grandchildren, Xoie, Kattarena, Ryan Jr. and Cooper Leach, Eugene Swackhamer, Robert and Lucas Bixby, Aubrianna Locke, Justin (Sam) Stiles and Shawn Stiles, his great-great grandson, Asher Stiles, his brothers, William Sullivan and Raymond Sullivan and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Charles was predeceased by his first wife Elizabeth Olkey Sullivan, his son, Dean Sullivan, his grandson, Dustin Kendall, great grandson, Nikali Leach, son-in-law, Eugene Kendall and siblings, Leon Sullivan, Richard Sullivan, Clarence Sullivan, Frank Sullivan, Robert Sullivan, Margaret Wright, Esther Schoneweis, Ruth McQuown and Alice Sullivan. Friends may call on Monday, January 15 from 2:30 to 4:30 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will follow there at the conclusion of visitation with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be made in Woodhull Cemetery.
