Barney L. Baker, 63, of Lindley, passed away at home on Saturday, June 1, 2024 following a brief illness.
Barney was born on May 14, 1961 in Corning to the late Edward and Sharon VanGorden Baker. Raised in Lindley, he attended Addison Central School.
Barney had been a lifelong mechanic and builder who knew the value of hard work. His labors spoke of his character. He enjoyed the outdoors, be it hunting, fishing or riding his motorcycle. Barney had a heart of gold and would be the first in line to help a friend or family member in need. He would be your protector and always have your back. He and his many friends truly enjoyed life, living it to the fullest.
Barney was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Sharon Baker and his sister Renee Baker.
Surviving are his siblings, Edward Baker Jr. of Lindley, Debra Wheeler (Gordie Lechner) of Addison, Diane Andrews of Woodhull, Monica Cooko of Corning and Cathy Forbes of Mt. Morris, his uncle like brother, Larry Baker of Lindley, dear friend, Fred Myers, his children, Matt Taft Sr. of Lindley, Kayle Baker of Corning, Mackenzie Porter of Addison and Alex Young of Savona, his 6 grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a long list of friends.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation and reflection on Sunday, June 9 from 4 to 6 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY.
