Arlene E. Wheatcraft, 73, of Addison, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Born in Hornell, NY on April 2, 1951, Arlene was the daughter of the late Justin B. and Nadine Parks Glass. She grew up in Addison where she was a 1969 graduate of Addison Central School. On May 8, 1971, Arlene and Duane Lyle Wheatcraft were married at the Addison Presbyterian Church, making their home together in Addison, Duane preceded Arlene in death on November 24, 2023 after 52 years as husband and wife. Arlene retired from Corning Inc. following a 33 year career with them. Most of her employment was within the Erwin plant of Corning Inc. Arlene and Duane were true life partners in every imaginable way. They had a very close group of friends that they would spend time with, often travelling on cruises or bus tours together. They were longtime campers at Bucktail Camp Grounds in Mansfield, where they developed many dear friendships with fellow campers. Arlene savored family time, especially spending time and events with her grandchildren. She and Duane were very loyal in following all the activities of their grandchildren. Arlene is survived by her daughter, Courtney Lynn Wood (Shawn Ruland) of Addison, her son, Corey Duane Wheatcraft (Misty Wilson) of Tioga, PA, her grandchildren, Bryan Michael Wheatcraft, Bryce Lyle Wheatcraft, Sophie Elaine Wheatcraft, Aidan Duane Wood and Jared Hurd, her sisters, Nadine Glass of Corning, Lori Markell of Corning and Brenda Taylor of South Carolina, her brother, Timothy Glass of Addison and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Duane, Arlene was predeceased by her parents. Justin and Nadine Glass, and by her brothers, Justin Glass, Bernard Glass and Robert Glass. Private burial will be made in Addison Rural Cemetery. A Celebration of Life to honor both Arlene and Duane will be held publically in the future. Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull.
