CANISTEO: Caroline M. Wood, 85, of Third St. passed away peacefully Saturday, July 27, 2024 at her home.
Caroline was born December 3, 1938 in Hornell to the late Nicholas and Angeline (Falco) Prisco. On April 24, 1976, in Hornell, she married Thomas Wood, who predeceased her in January of 2022. She was also predeceased by a twin sister Mary Prisco, and sister Ann Prisco.
She was a life-long resident of the Canisteo Valley growing up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High school class of 1956. She furthered her education and career as an X-ray Technician from 1956-61. She went on to being a medical secretary for Dr. Patti of Hornell.
Caroline was a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Church in Hornell and was an avid reader and was known for her great sense of humor and generosity.
She is survived by a sister Theresa Shea of Elmira, niece Dr. Anne Shea of Vallejo, CA, nephews, Stephen (Jonathan) Shea of Sydney, Australia and Thomas (Tracey) Shea of Philadelphia, Pa. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Sandra Wood of Wellsville.
Per Caroline’s request, there will be no public calling hours or service. A private family gathering will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Hornell.

Arrangements are in care of the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.
