Obituary of Grayce E. Wilson

Grayce E. Wilson passed away on July 30 at her home in Jasper, NY at the age of 81, after a brief illness.
She was born on April 30, 1943 to James and Mildred (Allen) Marlatt. She was pre-deceased by her parents, brother, James Marlatt, sisters, Marjorie Butler and Darlene VanOrsdale.
Grayce was most known for her kind, compassionate demeanor, and her unwavering acceptance of everyone, no matter what their circumstances. She will always be remembered as the best daughter, loving mother, kindest grandmother, dear aunt, faithful cousin and true friend to everyone she knew and will sadly missed by so many.
Grayce was a stay at home mother for much of her life. She managed the Candle Shop in Canisteo for several years. She also was an aide at Canisteo Central School for many years until her retirement.
She is survived by her beloved companion Reg Fuller and her brother Charles Marlatt. Her children: Trixene Flint McMindes, Jeffrey (Sarah) Flint, Teresa (Dale) Hosmer, Joseph (Katherine) Flint, Deanne Wilson, Dale (Taylor) Wilson. Her grandchildren: Ryan (Karen) McMindes, Nathan McMindes, Lauren Scholes, Ahren (Shannon) Henby, James Flint, Perry (Erin), Emily, and Zachary Hosmer, Alex (Liset), Spencer (Victoria), Elliott (Lauran) Flint, Lennon Hausman, Brendon, McKayla, Alivia and Owen Mitchell. Great grandchildren: Allison and Abigail McMindes, McCoy, Bryant and Clark Scholes, Sterling and Gwendolyn Hosmer and Rafaela Flint. Her step-children: Ann (Dan) Fuller-Sincock, Melissa (Tim) Ames, Sheila (Jim) Palmiter and Jeffrey (Amber) Fuller and Reg’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins, who are also considered her very best friends, especially Brenda Drake and Mike O’Brien.
Honoring Grayce’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be at the United Church of Jasper on Saturday August 3 @1:00 PM, with a reception immediately following downstairs. Arrangements are being handled by H.P. Smith & Son in Woodhull.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Southern Tier Hospice, for their compassionate care of her the last few weeks so she could remain at home.
