Vanessa Carol Eaton Heckman 71, of Preacher Road, Jasper NY passed away from a brief illness at home on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Born July 11, 1953, in Warsaw NY to the late William and Adoline (Wilkinson) Eaton, Vanessa was a graduate of the Warsaw Central School in 1971. After graduation, Vanessa earned her nursing license. She later left nursing to raise her family, and after her children had grown, she began her twenty plus year career at Wal Mart. In 2006 she settled in Jasper NY where she has been a member of the United Church of Jasper ever since. Vanessa also served in the Jasper Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Department as president and EMT for many years, helping teach future EMT’s and CPR to many in the community. She was always willing to volunteer her time and ready to help. Vanessa was known as an avid Buffalo Bills fan (TWT), butterfly lover, and Stephen King fan. She was also a lay minister for the churches in Jasper, Troupsburg and Addison. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandma. Surviving Vanessa is her husband of sixteen years, Michael Heckman of Jasper NY; daughters: Stephanie (Jay) Woodworth of Silver Springs NY, Carolee (Joel) Tucker of Warsaw NY, Rebecca (Christopher) Coral of Pavilion, NY; son: Daniel Woodworth Jr. of PA; special daughter-in-law: Alicia Woodworth of Warsaw, NY; step children: Debra (Kris) Neild of Lansdale, PA, Joe (Amanda) Heckman of Rathbone, NY; sister: Juanita (Ann Marie) Cornell of Rochester, NY; sixteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Vanessa is predeceased by her children’s father Daniel Woodworth Sr; sister and brother-in-law: Brenda and Otis Mabe. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 30 at 3:00pm at the United Church of Jasper with Reverend Brian Diffenbacher officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 7 at 1:00 pm at the Masonic Lodge, 75 S Main St, Warsaw NY. Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Inc., Woodhull NY.
