Please share a memory of Brenda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
JASPER; Brenda VanSkiver, 61, of Ste. Rte. 36, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 25, 2024 in Cape Hatteras, NC while doing what she loved most, vacationing with her family. She was born September 1, 1962 to Arnold and Peggy (Porter) Holt and attended Canisteo Central School in her early years, before moving with her family to Jasper where her parents successfully ran Holt’s Service Station for several years. While attending Jasper Central school, she played soccer, basketball and softball. It was there she met the love of her life Andy VanSkiver. On November 13, 1983, she and Andy were married and together began the most amazing 41 year run they could ever ask for. Brenda was an incredible wife, mother and grandmother. Together they raised their 6 children and when they were grown and away from home, she took on the job of day caring what seemed to be half of the town of Jasper kids. She loved each of these children as if they were one of her own and was happy when they came back to see her with their own family. She spent countless hours transporting children to every event they needed to be at, along with running the concession stand and washing uniforms. The teams were her family. It is believed that she never missed a game her kids played in. It was never about” her”, it was always her family. She will always be in our hearts. In addition to her husband Andy of Jasper, Brenda is survived by her wonderful 6 children, sons, Stephen VanSkiver of Jasper, Aaron (Julie) VanSkiver of Ashville, NC, Brent (Joelle) VanSkiver of Jasper, Ryan ((Eudoxia) VanSkiver of Hazeltown, Pa. and Tyler (Rachel) VanSkiver of Jasper and daughter Lorin (Cody) Nichols of Addison. Also surviving are the 10 luckiest grandchildren, Edena and Allyra VanSkiver, Billy and Allen Roldan, Eli and Dylan Nichols, Eloise VanSkiver, Noah, Emmerson and Maddie “Grandma’s right-hand man” VanSkiver. She is also survived by her parents Arnold and Peggy Holt of Jasper and two sisters. There will be no calling hours or service.
