Chuck was a good friend of mine in high school days and after. We graduated in the same class at JCS. He was a funny and fun loving & outgoing guy, talents Chuck brought to our senior play "Man Overboard" when he stole the show in the hilarious role of Honeyboy Brown - a high energy salesman.
There were a group of us guys/classmates that spent a a lot of time together building and staying at a cabin we built on the Marlatt farm during and after our high school days. It was built largely from give-away scrap material from area tumbledown barns. There was a great camaraderie there with Chuck always contributing his mellow fun loving nature to the mix. A lot of my memories of Chuck are from driving & riding the back roads around Jasper. In the summers we would seek out and attend the local Country & Western Jamborees or go to the stock car races in Woodhull. Chuck always had an interesting car and he was always a driver. At the time Chuck was a Chevy man in the Chevy-Ford rivalry. Some the cars I recall, if memory serves correctly, were a Corvair (Chuck said it had the 'racing engine' but he must have gotten tried of feeding it oil since he didn't keep it long), a 1958 Chevy (I was with him when he rolled that one) and a 1966 Impala. One Christmas some of us road-tripped to Chuck's folks place in Zepherhills, Florida and went on to visit Disney World.
Chuck was one of the original "good guys". I was lucky to have him as a friend and to share those great youthful times with him. He was a stand up guy.

I have many fond memories with Chuck and Sue Marlatt. We were neighbors back in the early 90's for a short time. Spent some time getting to know the family and making some memories. One memory that sticks out was the blizzard that hit around March 12th,1993. It was a pretty big storm, closing the roads for a few days. Some people were snowed in for about 2 weeks. We had the pleasure of spending time with the Marlatt family the night if the blizzard. Chuck was a good man and he will be missed.
