LEXINGTON PARK, MD: Jack Rodney Horn, Jr. 66, went to be with his lord September 13, 2024 in Washington, DC after an extended illness.
Jack was born on January 28,1958 in Elmira, to the late Jack and Catherine (Jenkins) Horn. He spent his youth in the Greenwood, New York area at the John and Judy Jensen Farm and graduating from Greenwood Central School.
On July 17, 1981 he married his beloved wife the former Colleen Erskine and resided in Lexington Park Maryland for many years. Colleen predeceased him in November of 2019.
Jack spent 20 years in the United States Navy as a jet mechanic, retiring in 1998. After retiring from the Navy, he worked for several years as a civilian contractor on jets.
Jack is survived by one sister Shiela Horn, two brothers Greg Phelps of Hannibal and Kevin (Larrie) Phelps of Syracuse, his mother-in-law Bonnie Erskine and sister-in-law Charlotte Erskine of Canisteo and brother-in-law Randy (Deb)Erskine as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 12:00 pm Monday, September 30, 2024 at the West Jasper Wesleyan Church where a funeral service will take place immediately following calling hours at 12:00 pm. Burial will be in the Gulley Cemetery, Jasper, NY.
Memorial Contributions in Jack’s name may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements are in care of the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.
