Obituary of David N. Allen

GREENWOOD: David N. Allen, 80, passed away Monday, September 23, 2024 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester following a short illness.
David was born January 31, 1944 in the town of Troupsburg to the late Stewart and Helen (Colegrove) Allen.
He was a graduate of the Troupsburg Central School class of 1961. He met Sharon L. Holt, the love of his life, in Greenwood and on July 20, 1963 in Troupsburg, were married and had one son, Eric.
David was employed by Air Preheater in Wellsville, NY for 49 years, retiring in 2012. He worked on the shop floor in several classifications for 20 years, as a production supervisor for 20 years, and spent 9 years as a system designer in the facility department.
After retirement, David and Sharon, his forever love and companion, enjoyed many years of traveling together. They loved trips to South Carolina and Florida, trips out west and a memorable trip to Hawaii. They also loved many trips to Massachusetts to see Eric, Ann and their grandsons Austin and Ryan who were the greatest joy in his life. David was an avid reader, listening to music and puttering around the house.
In addition to his loving wife of 61 years, Sharon of Greenwood and his son Eric (Ann) Allen and grandsons Austin and Ryan all of Chelmsford, MA. David is survived by his siblings, Erwin (Elaine) Allen of Hornell, Jeannette Stock of Canisteo, Paula (Larry) Kinney of Lawrenceville, Pa, Stewart “Butch” (Lorraine McNeill) Allen of Lindley, Susanne (Steve) Turner of Borden, IN. Waneta (Steve Dutschke) Crosby of Louisville, KY, Ethan (Patty) Allen of Jacksonville, NC, and AJ (Joanne Ordiway) Allen of Rexville.
Additionally, David’s family includes brothers and sisters in-law, Shirley Holt of Greenwood, Arnold and Peg Holt of Jasper, Charlene and Robert Davenport of Greenwood, sister-in-law Joanne Holt of Greenwood and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother Michael Allen, sister and brother-in-law Elaine and David Tracy, sister and brother-in-law Joan and Robert Halsey, sister-in-law Joyce Holt, brothers-in-law Stanley Holt, Clayton Stock and Robert House.
At David’s request there will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Final interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
