Obituary of Grace E. Petteys

CANISTEO/JASPER: Grace E. Petteys, 77, of Cty. Rte. 31 (Milwaukee Rd.) passed away Saturday (March 23, 2013) surrounded by her family at the home of her son, Rick Petteys in the town of Jasper, following an extended illness. Grace was born May 5, 1935 in Hornell, to Howard P. and Eudora M. (Campbell) Kendall. In 1960 in South Canisteo she married Richard J. Petteys who predeceased her in April of 2001. Grace had worked at the former Westinghouse Company in Bath and Marion Rohr Co. in Hornell. She loved to be outside going on walks with her dog and enjoyed crocheting doilies and baking cookies and pies for her great grandchildren. Grace is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law Richard L. and Dawn Petteys, Sr. of Jasper, her grandson: Richard "Ricky" L. (Samantha) Petteys, Jr. and granddaughter, Brandy (Patrick) Dempsey all of Jasper. She is also survived by her precious great grandchildren, Kaylie, Brody, Zoey and Hunter Petteys and Taigen and Desmond Dempsey. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Tuesday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where funeral and committal services will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 9 PM with the Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Bennetts Creek Cemetery in the town of Greenwood, N.Y. Memorial contributions in Grace Petteys name may be made to Care First, 11751 East Corning Rd.
