Obituary of Reggie Myers

Reginald H. Myers Jr., age 84, of Hardscrabble Road, Addison, NY, passed away at The Corning Hospital on Friday, October 25, 2024 following failing health.
Reggie was born in Ithaca, NY on August 22, 1940 to the late Reginald and Favorite Porter Myers. He graduated from Fairport, NY High School where he had played football while attending there.
Reggie joined the US Army reserve in 1963, serving as a reservist until 1969. On March 13, 1965, he and the former Carol M. Rice were married in Horseheads, NY. Carol preceded Reggie in death on January 24, 2005.
Reggie worked for the Ingersoll Rand Co. in Painted Post, NY until a labor strike there persuaded him to find other employment. He then went to work for the Addison Central School District where he was employed for 31 years, retiring as the Head Custodian for the district.
Reggie had enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a collector of model trains and antique tractors. In retirement, he volunteered at the Wings of Eagles Museum in Big Flats, NY, often assisting with repairs and maintenance of aircraft. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching them grow up. In the 1970’s coached his son’s little league team “ the Addison Mets”. Throughout the years, he was a Hunter Safety Instructor, teaching others the proper and safe way to hunt.
Surviving Reggie are his sons and their wives, Paul and Brenda Myers of Pittsford, NY and Chris and Crystal Myers of Woodhull, his grandchildren, Carolyn Myers, Benjamin Myers, Samuel Myers, Christopher Myers (Lauren Johnson), John Myers (Calin Nichols) and Timothy Myers, his sister and brother-in-law, Favorite and Norman Bower of South Carolina.
Besides his wife Carol, Reggie was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Lemuel Myers.
A private family funeral service will be held at the Woodhull Cemetery Chapel in Woodhull followed by burial in Woodhull Cemetery.
Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull.
