Obituary of Alice Joyce Bartholomew

Alice Joyce Bartholomew, 83 years, of Addison, NY entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Absolut Care of Three Rivers in Painted Post after a long fight with cancer. Alice was born March 3, 1930 in Vineland, NJ. She was the daughter of Luzerne William Barr and Ellen Demmy. Alice was married to Robert Edward Bartholomew on Jan. 13, 1950. He predeceased her in 1986 after 36 years together. She was also preceded by her great grandson, Robert Wruck. She is survived by a daughter, Ellen Marie (Dave) Lindner of Williamsville, NY and a son, Richard Edward Bartholomew of Addison, NY. Alice was the grandmother of five grandchildren, Robert Luzerne (Cassandra) Bartholomew, Kristy Marie Lindner ((John Wruck), Jonathon Lindner and fianc� Nicole Jarzyniecki, Deborah Leone Brewster and Richard Paul Lindner as well as 7 great grandchildren. Alice was the owner of the Addison Ben Franklin Store, previously owned by her father Luzerne Barr, which she operated for many years. Following the sale of the store, Alice worked at the Pinnacle in Addison. In her later years, Alice enjoyed gardening and watching her hummingbirds. She was a member of the Tuscarora-Woodhull OES Chapter 273 and the First Baptist Church of Addison. Visitation hours will be at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY from 6-8 PM on Thursday, March 28, 2013. Funeral services will be there on Friday at 11 AM with Rev. Sandra Olmstead officiating.
