REXVILLE: Richard L. Harkenrider, 86, of Cty. Rte. 117 passed away Wednesday evening, October 30, 2024 at Elderwood at Hornell following a short illness.
Richard was a life-long resident of Rexville and had been a register nurse for several years at the Bath Infirmary. He was a veteran of the US Navy from 1958-61 and outside of nursing, thoroughly enjoyed his country life on the family farm.
He is survived by his wife Helen (McKinley) Harkenrider of Rexville two daughters, Elizabeth Harkenrider of Rexville and Patricia Breberg-Harkenrider of Fondulac, WI and a brother Roger Harkenrider of West Hollywood, CA.
There will be no services at this time. A memorial mass will be schedule in the summer of 2025.
Final interment will be in St. Mary’s Churchyard Cemetery in Rexville.
Memorial contributions in Richard’s name may be made to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Rd. Hornell, NY 14843.
Arrangements are in care of the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. funeral Home in Canisteo.
