Obituary of Douglas H. Wyant, Sr.

Douglas H. Wyant, Sr. (79) born June 9, 1945, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 4, 2024, after a long illness. Doug was an avid golfer, poker player, hat collector, car enthusiast, NASCAR fan, reader and joke-teller. More than anything else, he loved his wife of 60 years, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings and all his family and friends. If you met Doug once, he was forever in your heart and you in his. Doug is survived by his wife MaryLee (Michler), son Doug, Jr. (Chasidy), daughter Tracy (Christopher); Grandchildren: Katie (Jared), Meghan, Lauren(Matt), Collin, Taylor (Ryan), Blake (Nicole), Austin(Krysta), Hunter (Aylah) and his special Granddaughter Stephanie Knight; Great-Grandchildren: Liam, Lane, Logan, Olivia, Cora, Maisie, Bennett, and Miles with two more on their way; Siblings: brother Dennis (Connie), brother Daniel(Sue), and sister Dawnne; Brother-in-Law Charles Michler; Nieces Lindsay Loper, Kelly Wyant-Krause, Nephews Curtis Loper, Jr.(Ashley), Jason Wyant (Wendy), beloved Aunt Annie Stephens, many cousins, great nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his father Harley Wyant, his mother Marilyn Wyant, brother-in-law Curtis Loper Sr. Calling hours will be Sunday, December 8th from 2-4 pm at H.P. Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 29 East Main Street, Canisteo NY 14823, with a funeral service immediately following. A Celebration of Doug’s life will be held at a later date to be announced by the family.
