CANISTEO: Clara M. Huerta, 90, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024 at her home following an extended illness.
Clara was an accountant for the Gerval Co. in Brooklyn, NY retiring and moving to Canisteo in 2001, to be closer to her daughter Madeleine Seaman and her family.
Clara was born November 6, 1934 in Havana, Cuba to the late Rodolfo and Marta (Mora) Cancio. On May 18, 1957 in Havana, she married Jose Huerta who survives and resides in Canisteo.
In addition to her husband, Clara is survived by daughter and son-in-law Madeleine and Dr. Grant Seaman of Canisteo, grandchildren Christian (Julianne) Seaman, Tyler (Tashina) Seaman, Eric (Iris) Seaman, Lauretta (Ian) Whatcott and Troy Seaman and 13 great grandchildren and one on the way.
She is also survived by a sister Marta Calas of Florida.
There will be no public services. A private family gathering and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in Clara’s name may be made to the Hornell area Humane society, 7649 Industrial Park Rd. Hornell, NY 14843.
Arrangements are in care of the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.
