Arlene Eva Marlatt, 92, of Jasper, NY, formerly of Painted Post, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Elcor Nursing Home in Horseheads. Arlene was born in Hedgesville, Town of Woodhull, on February 12, 1932, the daughter of the late Oscar and Floris (Hargrave) Allen. She was a 1950 graduate of Jasper Central School. Arlene married Jack C. Marlatt on June 3, 1951 at the Jasper Presbyterian Church. Jack preceded her in death on November 4, 2021. Arlene was a homemaker and stay at home Mom to five children. She was an upholsterer and seamstress for several years and also made beautiful wedding cakes. Arlene was a talented painter and was very clever at fixing, sewing or building just about anything. In later years she enjoyed helping out her Painted Post neighbors. Arlene is survived by her children, Deborah Marlatt of Tuscarora, Joseph Marlatt (Vickie Fanton) of Burdett, Susan Wensel of Corning, Vicki Nelson of Australia and Christine (Philip) Marsh of Jasper, 7 grandchildren, Garrett Wensel, Mitchell Wensel, Andrew (Louise) Nelson, Nick (Kelly) Marsh, Tracy (James) Marotto, Shannon Perrone and Chad (Michelle) Fanton, 12 great grandchildren, also, her siblings, twin sister, Arloween Dennis of Hedgesville, Donald (Betty) Allen of Victor, Greta Ingersoll of Wyoming, Jack Allen of Florida, Philip Allen of Hedgesville, Kenneth (Carol) Allen of Bath, Elma Jean Jacobus of Henderson and Vicki (James) Krisher of Rexville. Besides her husband Jack, Arlene was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Bouton and Floris Moyer, her brothers, Charles Allen, William Allen and Joseph Allen and her sons-in-law, Geoff Nelson and Robert Wensel. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18 from noon to 2 pm at the United Church of Jasper. A memorial service will follow there at 2 pm with Pastor Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be made in Jasper Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. act.alz.org. The H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull is assisting Arlene’s family.
