Obituary of Alfred E. Kashmer

Woodhull, NY - Alfred E. Kashmer, 80, of Thomas Road, Woodhull, NY, entered into rest on Sunday. March 31, 2013 at home in the comfort and care of his loving family. Al was born in Duryea, PA on October 15, 1932, the son of Thomas A. and Anna (Fedor) Kashmer. He was a 1950 graduate of Bradford, NY Central School where he excelled in athletics. A US Army veteran, Al enlisted in April 1956 and served until March 1958 followed by time spent in the US Army Reserves. On June 20, 1959, he and Connie Michaels were married at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elmira. Al had been employed by the Ingersoll Rand Co. in Painted Post as a young man and left there following a layoff. He then worked for the Horseheads School District and Ward LaFrance in Elmira Heights. He later returned to Ingersoll Rand from where he retired as stock room coordinator. An avid LA Dodgers fan, he also enjoyed woodworking. Al was a great car enthusiast and his vehicles were always kept in immaculate condition with his constant care. He was a communicant at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Addison. Surviving is Al's wife of 52 years, Connie Kashmer at home, his daughter and son in law, Laurie and Robert Warzyniak of Sayre, PA, his sons and daughters in law, Darrell and Mary Kashmer of Rochester, NY, Martin Kashmer (Dr. Karen Kulikowski) of Scott Plains, NJ and Michael and Amy Kashmer of Churchville, NY, his grandchildren, Robert, Michael and David Warzyniak and Zachary, Gregory and Emily Kashmer, his sisters, Marion Switzer of Bath, NY, Leona Paproky of Corning, NY and Dorothy Fritz of Huntsville, Ala., his brother, Robert Kashmer of Bonita Springs, FL and several nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Kashmer and his brothers, Thomas, Michael, Joseph and John Kashmer. There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Addison on Friday, April 5 at 11 AM with Rev. Patrick Connor celebrant. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery, Woodhull, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted for Care First Hospice, 11751 East Corning Road, Corning, NY 14830. Service: Friday, April 5, 2013 11:00 AM St. Catherine's Catholic Church Maple St. Addison, New York
