Obituary of James C. Potter Jr.

James C. Potter Jr., 73, of Space Road, Rathbone, NY, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.
Born in Elmira on July 28, 1951, Jimmy was the son of the late James C. and Louise E. (McNeil) Potter. He attended school in Elkland, PA from which he was a 1969 graduate.
Jimmy had various jobs through his life but his primary occupation was as a truck driver, driving several years for RL Callahan Co. of Beaver Dams, NY.
On October 24, 1984, Jimmy married the former Paula J. Kittner in Woodhull. Paula survives.
Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Steuben County Coon Hunter’s Club. He loved spending time with his sons deer hunting or coon and coyote hunting. Jimmy was a huge fan and supporter of his grandchildren in their athletic endeavors in school.
Surviving is Jimmy’s wife, Paula Potter at home, his children, James and Cindy Potter of Wellsboro, PA and April and Joseph Divens of Corning, his daughter-in-law, Stephanie Potter of Rathbone, his grandchildren, Megan (Chris) Copp, Sara Kerr, John (Alexis) Kelly, Anthony (Bethany) Kelly, Alyson Divens, Hailey Potter, Alexis Potter, Madison Potter and Marisol, his great grandchildren, Dylan, Jake, Via, Skylah, Noah, Aurora and Lucas along with many siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James & Louise Potter, his son, Michael D. Potter on Sept. 28, 2023 and his sisters, Marsha Tallarida and Tammy Jean Potter.
Following Jimmy’s wishes, there will be no formal services.
Arrangements are in care of the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull.
