Obituary of Betty J. Brown

`Betty J. Brown, 91, of Cty. Rte. 21, Addison, Town of Rathbone, entered into rest at home on Saturday, April 13, 2013 with the loving presence of her daughter Gloria, with whom she made her home. Betty was born in Nelson, PA on Dec. 17, 1921, the daughter of Albert and Minnie Kirk Stewart. In 1937 she married Walter Rumberger who died in France in April 1945 while serving his country during World War II. She later married Raymond Brown on May 12, 1947 in Hagerstown, MD. Ray preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1987. Betty also lost her son, David Rumberger on Jan. 8, 1991 and her sister, Anna Belle Spenser. Betty had been employed by the Corning Glass Works and Westinghouse Electric in Bath as well as being a babysitter for many families over the years. She adored her grandchildren and enjoyed passing time solving word find puzzles. Surviving are her children and their spouses, Richard and Ann Rumberger of Nelson, PA, Rosalie and Alfred Brown of Lawrenceville, PA, Jack and Patty Brown of Addison, Gloria and Terry Walker of Addison and Douglas Brown and Janet Peckham of Woodhull, her grandchildren, Penny Rumberger, Cara (Wendell) VanNess, Cherrie Soper (Art Miller), Brian (Desta) Brown, Debbie (Ronnie) Chappel, Tom Brown, Heather (Todd) Lewis, Sara (Justin) Smith, Nancy (Jim) Stidfole, Jason (Megan) Walker, Dustin (Susan) Walker, Cody Brown, Corey Brown, Brittany Brown, Kala Brown, Eric Rumberger and Carmel Rumberger and 20 great grandchildren. Friends may call on Wednesday, Apr. 17 from 2-4 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will follow there at 4 PM with Rev. Pete Miller officiating, Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery.
