Obituary of Elwyn D. Burdick

Elwyn D. Burdick, 69, of Locey Road, Middlebury Center, PA passed away at the home of his daughter Lisa in Wellsboro on Saturday, April 13, 2013 after a long illness. Born in Troupsburg, NY on Feb. 18, 1944, Elwyn was the son of Alfred and Edith Rude Burdick. He was a 1962 graduate of Troupsburg Central School. Elwyn had been employed by the Town of Troupsburg Highway Department and later went to work at the A&P Food Processing Plant in Horseheads. Upon the closure of the A&P plant, he traveled south, first to Florida and eventually settling in South Carolina where he was employed for many years as a landscaping crew chief at Sea Pine Plantation Resort in Hilton Head, SC. He returned to the area following his retirement. Elwyn is survived by his daughter, Lisa Gee of Wellsboro, his sons, Charles Burdick of Enterprise, Alabama and Elwyn Burdick Jr "Robert Treat" of Wellsboro, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, his former wife, Sonja of Wellsboro, his brothers, Clayton (Marge) Burdick of Troupsburg, NY and Donald Burdick of Austinburg, PA, his sisters, Doris Atwell of Andover, NY, Kathy (Bill) Tompkins of Austinburg, Ida (Joby) Storms of Middlebury Center and Sharon (Jim) Cornish of Troupsburg along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Alfred Burdick Jr. and Milton Burdick. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 16 from 10 AM to Noon at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will follow there at 12 Noon with Rev. Davis Blowers officiating. Burial will be in Mt. hope Cemetery, Troupsburg, NY.
