Obituary of Joann M. Dehn

MACEDON/CANISTEO: Joann M. "Jody" (Zeltwanger) Dehn, 62, formerly of Canisteo passed away peacefully Tuesday evening (April 22, 2013) at her home in Macedon surrounded by her family after an extended illness. Jody was born September 27, 1950, in Hornell, to Clyde and Betty (Leilous) Zeltwanger, Jr. She was predeceased by her father in October of 1998 and her sister Donna VanOrman in April of 2001. She was a graduate of Canisteo Central School class of 1968 and was a 1972 graduate of SUNY Geneseo where she earned her teaching degree. She had taught at Wayland, Dansville and Albion school districts and retired from teaching at the Webster School district. Jody is survived by her husband of 30 years, Kenneth Dehn of Macedon, daughter Jennifer (Chris) Stell and a son Shane (Shana) Dehn. She is also survived by her mother Betty Zeltwanger of Canisteo, a brother Thomas Zeltwanger of Canisteo, and cousins Steve (Debbie) Zeltwanger, Bill Zeltwanger, Sandra (Dan) Casey and Ron (Chris) Greene. The family will receive friends from 3-4 PM Saturday, at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo, where a memorial service will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 4:00 PM. A reception for family and friends will be provided, immediately following the service. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to either Pines of Peace, 2078 Ridge Rd.
