CANISTEO: Irene L. Curd, 82, of Third St. passed away peacefully Tuesday evening (April 30, 2013) in the comfort of her home with her daughters at her side. Irene was born June 11, 1930 in Hornell to Leon and Grace (Stewart) Judd. On July 7, 1951 in Ramsey, N.J. she married Eugene P. Curd who predeceased her in December of 1963. Irene was a clerk and secretary for the village of Canisteo for many years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Canisteo where she was secretary of the Memorial and Scholarship Funds. Irene is survived by her two daughters: Pamela (James) Roby of Canisteo and Linda (James) Laker of Hornell, two grandchildren Andrew Roby of Canisteo and Elizabeth Roby of Rochester. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Friday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home 29 East Main St. in Canisteo where a memorial service will take place immediately following calling hrs. at 7:00 PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Irene's name may be made to the Canisteo Ambulance Fund, c/o Sandy Pierce, 35 Main St. Canisteo, N.Y. 14823.
