Obituary of Marjorie M. Hilsdorf

HORNELL: Marjorie M. Hilsdorf, 82, of Doorley Rd. passed away peacefully, Saturday (May 18, 2013) at the St James Mercy Hospice Suite with the company of her loving husband and children by her side. Marjorie was born August 25, 1930, in Andover, to Edmund and Nina Mae (Shelly) Brown. On June 3, 1950 in Hornell she married Herman P. Hilsdorf who survives and resides in Hornell. She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Lawrence and George Brown. Marjorie worked at various places which included J.J. Newberrys, Merrill Hosery. She also worked for the Town of Fremont from 1956 until 1989 as deputy town clerk, tax collector and town clerk. She had worked as a sales clerk at Key Drugs, Fays Drugs, and Eckerd Drugs retiring after twenty five years and later was employed as a stocker at Walmart in Hornell. Marjorie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hornell and enjoyed spending time in Home Bureau. She loved taking pictures, and making cosmetic displays at the drug stores where she worked as a cosmetician and had won several awards for her displays. One of her deepest passions was to send cards to those who were close to her heart. Most of all Marjorie loved her husband, children and grandchildren and cherished the time spent with them. In addition to her husband of 62 years Herman Hilsdorf of Hornell, Marjorie is survived by two sons: Steven ( Justine) Hilsdorf of Willseyville, Douglas (Karen) Hilsdorf of Bath, three daughters: Deborah (Russell) Storozow of Thomasville, N.C., Kathleen (Michael) Meyer of Baldwinsville and June (Stephen) Radder of Manlius, 9 grandchildren, Ursula, Andrew, Christopher, Michelle, Meagan, Matthew, MacKenzie, Bryan and Ashley. She is also survived by two brothers, Kenneth Brown of Nunda and Archie (Shirley) Covert of Hunt, one sister, Charlotte Blagg of Vega, TX and a dear friend and part of the family, Diana Kubiak and her family. At Marjorie's request there will be no calling hrs. A private viewing and funeral service will be at the convenience of the family at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo. Burial will be in Fremont Cemetery in Stephens Mills. Memorial contributions in Marjorie's name may be made to either, the Fremont Vol. Fire Dept. Ste. Rte. 21, Arkport, N.Y. 14807 or to the Hornell First Baptist Church, 28 Church St. Hornell, N.Y. 14843. Service: Private Family Viewing Private Family Funeral H.P.
