Obituary of Shawn M. Smith

Shawn M. Smith, 21, of County Route 119, Cameron, NY, died suddenly on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira as the result of a motorcycle accident. Shawn was born in Landstuhl, Germany on Nov. 3, 1991, the son of Herbert and Shannon Reagan Smith III. He was a 2009 graduate of Addison Central School and completed the heavy equipment course at BOCES in Coopers Plains. Following high school, Shawn attended Corning Community College and held jobs in the gas fields in Pennsylvania as well as having been a security guard at Pollio in Campbell. He recently was hired as a caster at Zeiser Wilbert Vault Co. in Elmira. Shawn was Chaplain for the Sons of the American Legion in Addison, a member of the Cameron Fire Department and was a talented, self taught drummer, currently belonging to the musical group, "No Time to Lose". Surviving are Shawn's girlfriend, Caitlin Moberg of Pine City, NY, his father and step mother, Herbert and Pamela Smith III of Cameron, his mother, Shannon Reagan of Mexico, NY, his siblings, Kristina Styron, Lela Arnett, Thomas McGowan and Taylor Smith, all of Cameron and Trevor Morrell of Mexico, NY, his paternal grandparents, Herbert and Irene Smith Jr. of Cameron, his maternal grandparents, Billy Joe and Judy Reagan of Addison and Sally Reagan of Cameron, his paternal great grandmother, Jean Kendzierski of Pikeville, TN, his step grandmother, Polly Yarboro of Cameron, his step great grandmother, Mary Ellis of Watkins Glen, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 21 from 7-9 PM and again on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 AM with Rev. Stacy Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Townline Cemetery, Cameron Mills, NY. Memorials in memory of Shawn may be made to the Townline Cemetery Association.
